Sorghum is a major crop and ancient grain grown throughout India, it is delicious to eat and contains a lot of nutritious ingredients. And jowar and the porridge made from it are very beneficial for health. And most households like to eat porridge for breakfast in the morning.
Let us know here the method of making jowar porridge and its health benefits-
1/2 cup jowar (whole), 2 cups milk, pinch of salt, 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder, few pieces of dry fruits, jaggery or sugar (as per your choice), water.
To make jowar porridge, first soak whole jowar in water for 2-3 hours.
After that, take water in a cooker according to the requirement or in the form of one and a half cup, put soaked jowar and salt in it and cook it.
Take about 4 to 5 whistles. Then let the cooker cool down.
Now put milk in a pan or pan and keep it boiling, mix cooked jowar and cardamom powder in it and cook till it thickens well.
Now add sugar or jaggery as per your choice and stir well to mix evenly.
Sprinkle dryfruits on top and serve the delicious jowar porridge hot.

Calcium, vitamin B, fiber, protein, iron and phosphorus are found in sorghum porridge. Therefore, due to these nutrients, oatmeal keeps the body healthy and reduces hunger.
– If you take jowar porridge in breakfast in the morning, it helps in reducing and controlling weight.
With its regular intake, it is helpful in keeping the heart healthy as well as providing benefits in heart related diseases.
Consuming jowar porridge is very beneficial for blood sugar patients, as it controls the blood sugar level.
Potassium and magnesium present in jowar porridge is helpful in controlling the blood pressure of your body.
– By eating jowar porridge, energy remains in the body throughout the day.
Note: If you have diabetes, use less quantity of jaggery or sugar in it. Or you can also eat it after making it salty.
