Pakistan Economic Crisis: The economic situation in Pakistan is very bad. To improve this, the government of the country keeps searching for different ideas. According to Dawn’s report, Pakistan’s Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Tuesday (June 6) during the meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) decided that markets across the country would be closed from July 1 till 8 pm.
The members present in the meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) agreed to keep the markets closed from 8 pm on July 1. Speaking to reporters during a press conference in Islamabad, Ahsan Iqbal said that he has agreed to the decision to close the market in the NEC meeting.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presided over
The meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) was chaired by the country’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and approved the estimated budget figures. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the meeting urged the provincial governments to implement the energy conservation plan, which has already been passed by the federal cabinet.
It was decided to implement this plan in the cabinet meeting in January, where it was decided to close the market at 8:30 pm and marriage halls at 10 pm. His argument was that this would save 40 per cent electricity.
Europe and America want to be
However, during the NEC meeting, PM Shehbaz Sharif said that closing the market early at night would save energy, which could help the government save up to $1 billion every year. Arguing on this, Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal said that even rich countries like Europe and America do not keep the commercial area open from 10 to 11 pm.
Immediately after this press conference, the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran (APAT), an organization representing the country’s business community, opposed the government’s decision to close the shops.
